Jamie Bohn Testimony

I was born into my home with my mom and my dad. We lived in a couple locations but in Ohio primarily with him, and he was everything I knew to be love. And that was where my identity was. That was what filled me. And I didn't know anything about God. So to me, as a child, your father is the representation of God. For me, that's how it was.

And so when I was six, we moved away from my father and they were getting a divorce, and that was hard, but I still knew I could go back to him and I saw him all the time for the next two years until he was killed, and my life was completely shattered.

So everything I knew as safety, everything I knew as protection, and everything I knew as love was pulled out from under me. And I was in a household that wasn't safe and that I didn't feel loved, and I was utterly alone.

And so I went searching to fill that void that was within me that just left me completely empty. And I filled it starting at 10. I filled it with alcohol. And I filled it with humans. And I sought love anywhere I could find it until I got to the point of desperation and wanting to end my life, trying to end my life.

And someone told me to pray to God. And I did. And I asked for help. And he rescued me. And I could no longer be intoxicated. I could not get intoxicated. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't get intoxicated. And I heard him say that I was done. And I knew it was him. And I knew it was because I asked him for help for the first time in my life.

And that was where my whole life changed. And it was a rocky road, but I got to know Jesus. And he came and rescued me from the pit of despair and taught me what love was and filled the spaces that no human and no substance could fill and even a human father couldn't fill.

No matter how I saw it, it was always God. And he would never leave me and he would never forsake me. And when I really believed that, the trajectory of my entire life changed. And evidence of that was that I couldn't go anywhere alone again, and I was completely filled with peace.

Do you know the love of God so deeply that he changes your heart and fills every space of?
